JOB DESCRIPTION: This position contributes to the company by being responsible for safely, accurately and efficiently diagnosing and performing vehicle repair and maintenance work as assigned in accordance with dealership and factory standards. The Service Technician may also oversee the work of any apprentice technician assigned to him/her. RESPONSIBILITIES: Receive repair orders from the Service Manager and arrange to have the vehicle driven to the assigned service bay. Road test the vehicle as necessary for diagnostic purposes. Diagnose cause of malfunction or operational issue. Perform work as outlined on repair order or as determined by the diagnostic evaluation. Communicate with Parts Department to obtain needed parts. Retain replaced parts for customer verification or warranty purposes. Inform the Service Manager if additional repair work is recommended, if work outlined on the Repair Order is not actually needed or if other complications are identified. Document work performed including time spent completing the work order. Road test vehicle to ensure a quality repair is complete and that identified malfunctions have been corrected. APPLICANTS PROFILE: Completion of apprenticeship as an Automotive Service Technician (Gesellenbrief) with at least two years of working experience. Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information Experience is servicing transmissions and diesel motors and / or experience in servicing All Terrain Vehicles and / or snow sleds will be viewed as an asset. General mechanical skills. Valid drivers license and driving record clear of any major traffic violations. Manual dexterity, common sense, good judgment. Physical, mentally, and emotional healthy. A working knowledge of English is essential. Candidate must be willing to live in a Saskatchewan community with a population of approximately 5000 persons CONDITION OF CONTRACT: Duration: Permanent full time contract. Employer is interested in receiving application from individuals who are prepared to MAKE A LONG TERM COMMITMENT OF WORK . Start of work: As soon as possible after work permit is issued. Salary: $17.00 to $29.00 per hour depending on training and experience. Working hours: 8:30 a.m. 5:30 p.m. Overtime is available supported by customer demand. Benefits: Medical, dental group insurance, short and long short term disability, life insurance and pension plan supported to a maximum employer contribution of $600.00 per year. Travel expenses will be reimbursed by the employer. Additional information: Employer is prepared to provide up to a maximum of $1000.00 per candidate to assist in the payment of relocation / resettlement costs provided that the worker successfully completes the three moth probationary period.. The length of the local contract will depend on the amount of this assistance. Employer will coordinate location of suitable furnished accommodation. Rental costs range from $400.00 - $650.00 per month plus utilities.
