JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsible for all aspects of the estimate and assigned to more complex and detailed tenders as lead estimator. Reviews proposal specifications, drawings, attends pre-bid meetings etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate. Provides complete conceptual (or bidwork) and final estimating input on complex projects Provides technical support to personnel preparing discipline estimates for assigned bids Insures all working documents and data are maintained to bask-up estimate figures Tracks awarded contracts as required (estimating/pricing extra work items, change orders, credit, procuring materials, etc.) Supervises and coordinates estimate support staff on larger projects. Assists with organizing, coordinating, and training of estimating personnel. Advises Chief Estimator or Department Manager as to cost and schedule fluctuations, improved material, or other factors affecting construction. Explores Value Engineering for all applicable projects or situations. Reviews market labour and equipment rates and advises accordingly. Completes post-bid analyses on jobs bid, but not received. Tracks bidding success and percentages, and analyses fiscal period bid performance. Evaluates fee analysis and adjusts by market conditions, past experience. May assist Chief Estimator in the coordination of overall corporate estimating functions, including systems development and staff training. APPLICANTS PROFILE: - Engineering degree or certificate or equivalent combination of technical training and experience - Minimum of 7 years estimating in the construction industry - Fluent English: excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution and communication skills, both verbal and written - Demonstrated understanding of construction processes - High degree of accuracy in numerical calculations and estimates CONDITIONS OF CONTRACT: * Salary:$CAN 56,000 annually * 40 hrs / week * Duration of contract: 2 years depending on the issued work permit.
