The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise is looking for well qualified trained professional staff at an international 5 * Hotel in Lake Louise in the Province Alberta. Full season resort hotel with 548 rooms, banquet facilities and 6 food and beverage outlets. Experience in the field required. We have low cost accommodation on site for all colleagues and one meal per day in our staff cafeteria; we also have a colleague gym at a low monthly cost and a colleague pub we also have extended medical, vision and dental benefits. JOB DESCRIPTION: Position: First Cook Reports to: Sous Chef Responsibilities: Basic competency on food preparation and line service experience in a variety of different kitchens. Ensuring inter-departmental communication and co-operation in the interest of better guest satisfaction. To provide courteous and professional service at all times. Working shifts as business levels dictate. Adhere to all environmental polices and procedures as required. Have complete understanding and adhere to Health & Safety procedures. Ensure that food is properly stored and handled at all times. Manage a clean work place during and at the end of each shift. Ensure the quality and quantity of food, meets hotel standards. Ensure that the food waste and spoilage are kept to a minimum. Assist in setting goals and standards for department. In absence of Chef de Partie and Demi Chef de Partie, ensure smooth running of the kitchen. Will help, guide and train coworkers at all times. Carry out any reasonable duties as assigned. Qualifications: Journeymans certification or equivalent. Minimum of 3 to 5 years experience in various areas in the kitchen. Self-motivated with excellent communication skills. Good team player and a demonstration of empathy for others. W.H.M.I.S certified an asset. Physically able to carry out the demands of the position including heavy lifting, standing and reaching shelves up to 6 feet tall. Sanitation and hygiene certificate with HACCP program an asset.
