The mission of the Neuroblastoma Bio-Imaging Project (coordinator: Dr. Rainer König) is to improve drug therapy by discovery of new drugs and drug targets. Fluorescence labelled cell lines are treated with RNAi knock downs for a large set of genes and drugs and will be studied by a novel high throughput image screening technique to classify defined phenotypes like cell cycle arrest, apoptosis and differentiation. We are seeking candidates for the following positions (start of employment: June 2008 or later): 1 Phd position in Bioinformatics (Data Mining), TV-L E13 /2 for 3 years 1 Post-Doc position Tasks: Exploration, pattern recognition and data anaylsis for the high throughput phenotypic data of the knock down screens, prerequisites: applicants should hold a diploma/master degree (Post-Docs: PhD) in computational, technical sciences or life sciences, and should have some experience (Post-Docs: very experienced) in data mining and statistical analysis of high-throughput life science data, such as microarray data. Candidates should be team-oriented, should be fluent in German or English, have a keen interest in science and in learning new techniques. The ability to work independently is a prerequisite, as is the ability to effectively interact with the research and technical staff of our team.
