In the context of the German excellence initiative, the Ruprecht-Karls-University of Heidelberg invites applications for Postdoc positions in Image Processing, Computer Vision and Machine Learning, to be filled for a duration of up to 5 years. The gross salary ranges from 36.7kEUR to 46.8kEUR plus social benefits, depending on qualification and experience. Successful candidates have a PhD or doctoral degree with an excellent thesis, a strong background in at least one of the fields above, profound knowledge in applied mathematics, excellent programming skills, a communicative character, the demonstrated ability to conduct interdisciplinary research at an internationally competitive level, and the willingness to put into practice the results in close cooperation with researchers from various application areas. The positions will be affiliated with the Heidelberg Collaboratory for Image Processing (HCI, http://hci.iwr.uni-heidelberg.de) that is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), industrial partners (Bosch, Heidelberger Druckmaschinen, Heidelberg Engineering, Silicon Software, and PCO) and the University. The mission of the HCI is to conduct basic research with the aim of providing cutting-edge solutions to basic image analysis problems for applications in industry, environmental and life sciences. The HCI comprises three groups (Profs. Hamprecht, Jähne and Schnörr) with about 60 senior researchers, PhD students and undergraduates. It is directed by a steering committee including the corresponding heads and representatives of the industrial partners. The HCI is part of the Interdisciplinary Center for Scientific Computing (IWR, http://www.iwr.uni-heidelberg.de/).
